Holiday Cheer and Secret Santa

12/04/2013 12:28

It’s that time of year again. The holidays are here! It’s time to get out the lights, the stockings, the Santa hat, and other various decorations and start feeling that wonderful holiday spirit that is in the air.

Have you taken a stroll down 5th Avenue in Manhattan and admired all the holiday window displays? Have you gotten to look at the giant Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center? The lighting is taking place tonight! Have you gone ice skating at Bryant Park? Have you gone to the Holiday Market at Union Square and sipped on a yummy hot apple cider while perusing the booths? If not, I would highly recommend that you stop reading this right now and go out! Go enjoy NYC during this time of year! Then come back and finish reading this article…

Here at Bell Language School we also want to get the holiday spirit in the halls and classrooms. We want everyone to feel the holiday cheer! So, this year we have decided to organize a Secret Santa Gift Exchange. What is Secret Santa you ask?? Well, it is a way that many people can give and receive a gift!

For our exchange, we will have a sign up list. If you would like to be a part of it, write your name on the sign up list. Then, on Friday December 13th, we will put all of the names in a big hat and draw them out one by one and assign them to everyone who signed up. So if you sign up, next Friday you will get a slip of paper with somebody’s name on it. Then your task is to go out and find a present for that person. The present cannot be more than $10 so you may choose to make something or get creative! Then on December 20, 2013, the day of Bell Language School’s Christmas party, bring your present, wrapped of course, and give it to the person!! Your Secret Santa will also be looking for you that day! So you will buy a gift and receive one!

This is a very old American tradition and it is a fun way to celebrate the season! If you do not know the person you are supposed to by a gift for, this your chance to meet somebody new and get to know him or her. Friends, presents, speaking English and the holidays… what more could we possibly want?

Join us in making this holiday season the best it can be- become a Secret Santa! If you have any questions, ask at the Admissions Office!
