8 levels of Intensive English classes
Basic Grammar and Conversation Part 1
At the conclusion of Basic Grammar, Part 1, students will possess the necessary grammatical foundation that they will need to communicate effectively at the basic level, in English, in all four language domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.Basic Conversation, Part 1, is an integrated skills, theme-based course that is designed to help students become familiar with the basic communicative skills and strategies that are needed when living in a large city, such as New York. This course will also help students gain confidence in their English speaking abilities, encouraging them to expand their knowledge of spoken English both within and beyond the classroom setting.
Basic Grammar and Conversation Part 2
This course will help students gain a deeper understanding of the basic structures of English grammar. Students will be able to understand slightly more complex sentence structures, make affirmative and negative statements, ask questions, and use adjectives to make their speech and writing more descriptive at the basic level. After the completion of Basic Conversation, Part 2, a theme-based integrated skills course, students will be able to participate in many basic everyday situations. Students will build their communicative skills by participating in role-plays and other activities that help to increase their conversational abilities in English and build their confidence. Students also regularly participate in individual and group presentations, building their oral presentation skills.
Intermediate Grammar and Conversation Part 1
This course will help students gain a deeper understanding of slightly more complex structures of English grammar allowing them to comprehend and communicate their ideas across a wider range of topics, in the four language domains. Students will also continue to develop their intercultural skills, increasing their awareness of cultural issues within the U.S.Intermediate Conversation, Part 1, is designed to help students continue to improve their communicative skills across the four language domains. A secondary goal of this course is to help students continue to build confidence in their speaking and listening comprehension abilities across a wider range of topics, broadening their communicative abilities both within and beyond the classroom setting.
Intermediate Grammar and Conversation Part 2
Upon completion of Intermediate Grammar, Part 2, students will be able to read, write, and communicate in conversations using more complex sentence structures and vocabulary. Additionally, students will be able to communicate ideas on a broader range of topics, using more specific vocabulary.In Intermediate Conversation, Part 2, students will strengthen their communication skills and be able to converse with greater fluency and accuracy, in English. Students will begin to broaden their conversational range and will be able to use an increasingly specific vocabulary when conversing.
High Intermediate Grammar and Conversation Part 1
At the conclusion of High-intermediate Grammar, Part 1, students will be able to use more complex sentence structures and vocabulary, across the four language domains, at the high-intermediate level. Students will continue to broaden their knowledge of the many cultures that comprise the U.S. culture and be able to communicate ideas, in English, across a broader range of topics using an increasingly specific vocabulary.In this course, students will improve their listening and speaking skills using a theme-based approach. Students will develop communicative competence on a broader range of topics and be able to use common idiomatic expressions and more advanced sentence structures when conversing. Students will also develop increased confidence in their communicative skills
High Intermediate Grammar and Conversation Part 2
At the conclusion of High-intermediate Grammar, Part 2, students will be able to use more complex sentence structures and vocabulary, across the four language domains, at the upper high-intermediate level. Students will continue to broaden their familiarity with American cultural nuances and communicate ideas, in English, across a broader range of topics using an increasingly specific vocabulary.In High-intermediate Conversation, Part 2, students will continue to broaden their conversational range across a wide variety of topics and themes. Students will continue to develop confidence in their communicative skills, conversing with greater fluency and accuracy, using increasingly advanced sentence structures and more advanced idiomatic expressions
Advanced Grammar and Conversation Part 1
In Advanced Grammar, Part 1, students will become prepared for more advanced studies in the U.S. and abroad. Students will refine their English language skills, across all four language domains, through theme-based instruction. At the completion of Advanced Conversation, Part 1, students will have further developed their communicative skills, and will gain competence, fluency, and accuracy across the four language domains. Students will also become familiar with academic TOEFL - level vocabulary and become better prepared to further their studies, in English both in the U.S. and abroad.
Advanced Grammar and Conversation Part 2
At the conclusion of Advanced Grammar, Part 2, students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills will reflect their knowledge of advanced level English structures. Academic writing skills are emphasized, as a secondary goal of this course is to prepare students for more advanced studies in the U.S.By the completion of Advanced Conversation, Part 2, students will speak with a high level of fluency and accuracy on a wide variety of familiar and unfamiliar topics. Students will feel confident in their speaking abilities and be able to converse with fluent English speakers, using culturally appropriate communicative strategies.
Advanced Reading and Writing
This program is designed to master the reading and writing skills, enhance critical thinking, and improve academic skills such as inference, synthesizing, note taking and test taking.
• Intensive English Program 5 days a week = Focus on Grammar 3 days a week + Focus on Conversation 2 days a week.
The cost for one session is $540 (for students applying from abroad the first session is $840).
